This shot is of Patrick Depailler driving Ken Tyrrell's famous 6 wheeled Grand Prix racer. This image is from my photographs at the last year of the "real" formula one "GP" races. Again the water color medium make a more interesting memorable image than a standard photo. This painting was done a larger original size and so as a print it has greater artistic impact when large.

Depailler was killed by while training on his bicycle in France. This painting was done as part of my Long Beach GP water color series.

nice ! one of my all time favorite F1 cars . we gave Patric the aerodynamic equations and chassis plans for this . you don't think an earthling could have thought this up ha ha h

Well this is a water color from my own original 6x7 transparency shot at Long Beach from a neon sign above the street....this is were the street is coming back up to long beach blvd. So the angle is almost face on. Depailler was one of my favorite guys....very nice guy and a wonderful wife also. Best of Luck for 2013

wow you knew him . You won't see F1 cars like that anymore , the hay day's of F1
thank you I could use a little luck , just got laid off with 20 or so others after 14 years . Happy Holliday's huh .

I shot F-1 for about 4 years straight in north america. covered the 3 races in north america at that time...you hang around long enough and people say hello, back then anyway. It was not the big deal it is today. If you can ever find the broadcast tv coverage of the LBGP for that year...it was on CBS. There will be a shot of a young photographer standing on a neon sign about 40 ft in the air...shooting down on the track with a Pentax 6x7....that is me.

the only F1 race I went to was Monza 1994 wow long time ago . will never forget it
you must have some great pics. I will check out your pictures soon . got to go
testing a new Hyperultrasupersonic space craft.. AKA house work "don't tell anyone"
